If there are twin consonants between vowels, divide between the consonants.     

When twin consonants are in the middle of a word, the vowel before will typically make its short, closed sound, and the twin consonants blend together as one sound.    

The first syllable in these words is most often accented, and the second, unaccented syllable may change to a schwa sound if it is closed.

Twin C consonants may not always blend together as one sound in the middle of a word.  

If Twin C consonants are followed by a Y, I, or E, the first C will make its hard sound, /k/  and the second C will yield to is soft sound, /s/, as in “success”, or “access”.
