_/ĭk/-ic ick

ick

-ic

We typically do not spell English words with consonant C at the end, unless we are using Suffix -IC.
When we add Suffix -IC, we are adding a syllable.
Most multisyllable words that end with the sound /ĭk/, use IC at the end, as in “robotic”.
When a one-syllable word ends with /ĭk/, use the ICK, as in “kick”.
Look at this image and decide how it can help you remember how to spell /ĭk/ at the end of a word.
