In order to read longer words, we need to break, or divide words into syllables.
To do this, we look for patterns. The first pattern is used when dividing between two consonants.
If there are two consonants between vowels, divide between the two consonants.
Typically this creates a short, closed syllable for the first part of the word. If it is accented, then the vowel will usually make its short, closed sound. If it is unaccented, it may make a schwa sound.
